On his 77th birthday, October 2, our son, husband, brother, Dad, Granddaddy, uncle and friend returned to God. Dick will be missed every day by his mother Henrietta; Nancy, his wife of 54 years; sisters Pat and Vi; children Amy (John), Mark (Bobbie) and Jennifer (Tom); grandchildren Andrew, Adam, Edgar, Ruth, and the Galvan kids; many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren; and Nancy’s family.
Dick’s kindness, steadfast commitment, and ability to fix anything will also be missed by his friends at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Greenspring Village, Kings Park Library, and, as a 35+-year IBM employee, the Rusty Blues. Dick is now reunited with his sister Barbara and all the saints gone before.
We will gather to remember Dick on Saturday, October 6 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5800 Backlick Road in Springfield. Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; Camp Caroline Furnace, 2239 Camp Roosevelt Rd, Fort Valley, VA 22652; the Stroke Comeback Center – strokecomebackcenter.org; or the charity of your choice.
