With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the death of Garland Barnes. Garland was only 53 years old when he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in his home in Ashburn, VA, on May 15, 2022. He was born in Wilson, NC, on May 31, 1969.
Garland loved music, was a great dancer, and his favorite sports team was the Washington Football Team. He lived life to the fullest with a beautiful, kind, and loving spirit. He cared deeply for his friends and family. Words can't truly express how much we will miss Garland.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Hattie Jane Barnes, Maternal Grandparents, Ernest and Jessie Barnes, and Uncle Dennis Barnes.
Garland leaves behind two beautiful and amazing children, Griffin (15 years old) and Harper Jane (12 years old); along with their mother Caroline Shell; his step-siblings Phyllis Moore, Greg and Gary Bynum, Cynthia and Carnell Green, his Aunt and Uncle Carolyn and Ernie Brown; his cousins, Terri Wright, Rhonda Brown, Jason and Jacquia Winstead; Rufus Barnes; Uncle Currie Joyner and extended Joyner family, and a host of relatives and friends.
As he wished, Garland will be cremated, and there will be no funeral service.
We appreciate everyone who has sympathetically remembered us in prayer and sent cards, flowers, and other expressions of condolence.
