Johnny Herbert Deans Jr., 95, passed peacefully, surrounded by family in his home at Meadow Glen in Leesburg, VA on March 19, 2022.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Birdine Deans (nee Dail), sons Johnny H. Deans III (Deana) and Paul Deans, and daughters Patricia Kalb (Tim) and Cheryl Warfield (Dave), and former DIL Geoffry Deans. He is also survived by 11 loving grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and an adoring sister, Faye Recor.
He was born October 18, 1926 in Tarboro, NC to Johnny H. Deans Sr. and Sarah Almeta Deans (nee Smith). As a youth, he plowed fields, using a mule on the family farm in NC. He came of age, near the end of WWII, serving in the Army peacekeeping missions in Germany and becoming a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne
After marrying in 1948, Johnny became a barber. He owned Langley Park Barber Service in MD for many decades. After retirement, they enjoyed living in Myrtle Beach, SC for 20 years, prior to moving to this area near family.
Johnny loved hunting, fishing, and working with his hands. He believed in hard work, financial integrity, honoring his word, and taking care of his family. He had a keen sense of humor and loved to tell stories. He had a positive outlook and grateful spirit in his older years, which blessed many others.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 2 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Church of Loudoun in Leesburg.
Interment with military honors will be Monday at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery in MD.
