Phunsri Wahl of Centreville, Va., second daughter of the late Umpan and Poonsuk Kessomboon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her home in Centreville, Va. at the age of 87.
Phunsri leaves behind her 4 daughters; Prapaisri Haugh (Bill); Ausanee Pananon (late Acha).; Usa Iverson (Michael); and Panedah Wahl, as well as her late son, Anusorn Sangchun (Vipada), along with 2 sisters – Phongsiri and Pornsuk. She also leaves 7 grandchildren: Melissa, Israporn, Kristina, Thomas, Alex, Daniel and Eric; as well as 2 great-grandchildren – Gunner and Tyler; 3 nieces – Naboone, Kulkanya, and Thanalak; and 1 nephew - Sasiphong.
Phunsri attended Mater Dei Catholic School for Girls as a young woman and graduated from Rapee Dress Designer School in Bangkok, Thailand. She was passionate about sewing, quilting, clothes design, cooking, crochet, cross-stitching, gardening and ballroom dancing! She was able to learn and adapt new methods to quickly improve processes whether it be sewing, dress-design, cooking or gardening. She also loved to teach her grandchildren and others how to cook and sew.
She was married for 33 years to the late Clarence Wahl and has lived in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the USA. She has also traveled to many countries including England, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain and others.
While living in Saudi Arabia, Phunsri managed a snack bar at the Corps of Engineers Desert Inn in Riyadh, where she provided good food and activities for many U.S. families to enjoy. She also owned and operated a dress shop and boutique in Thailand that promoted Thai cultural designs on fabric and silk.
She loved her family and always was a positive thinker, believing in and enjoying life and family.
