Obituary of Barbara Ann Miller Creasey

1933 - 2021

Barbara (“Bobbie”) Ann Miller Creasey, 88, of Winchester, died on November 8, 2021 at Spring Arbor Memory Care Center.  Bobbie was born July 6, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA.  She was the youngest of three daughters of the late John and Catherine Miller.  She lived a life of devotion: to her family, church, and community.

Bobbie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Shippensburg College. Her teaching career spanned over three decades, she taught numerous grade levels, always with an abundance of love for young people. She later devoted her energy to teaching preschool children, truly a passion in her professional life.

Throughout life, she filled the house, church, and college music hall with her beautiful voice. Her musical talents involved playing the cello in the Harrisburg Youth Orchestra, directing a church choir, and performing in a Community Theatre production of Pajama Game. Her school spirit was expressed as a cheerleader from junior high to college. Elected to Who’s Who in Colleges and Universities reflected on “Bobbie’s” earned respect from faculty and students.

Bobbie, and her husband Dr. Richard Creasey, moved from Pennsylvania to Winchester, Virginia in 1992 and soon became active members of the community. Bobbie served as the chairwoman of the Winchester Literacy Volunteers Board, president of the Old Fredericktown Garden Club and active member of the Friends of Handley Library.  She was recognized as a Winchester Public Schools Outstanding Volunteer. Bobbie was devoted to the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir and chaired many social programs. Their love of adventure led them to travel to many historic sites and national parks across the country; and places abroad, including trips to Israel, Egypt, England, Scotland, Jordon, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, Ireland, Costa Rica, Portugal, and Spain.

However, the love and devotion she had for her family always came first. Barbara is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard G Creasey, D Ed; children: Deborah Siegfried, husband David of Winchester, VA; Michael Creasey, partner Joan Ross of Littleton. MA; Stephanie Tickle, husband Patrick of Austin, TX; her grandchildren Emma Mendonsa, husband Franz of Sacramento, CA; Christopher Creasey of Littleton, MA; Graham Siegfried, wife Mary of Topsham, Maine; Lily Tickle and Claire Tickle of Austin, TX.
