Ernest Wright

Obituary of Ernest Ralph Wright

Ernest R. Wright (known to all as Ernie), 67, of Charles Town, WV, left this world painlessly on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Morgantown, WV following a series of hospital admissions.  He was born December 13, 1953 in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, the oldest son of Ralph and Katherine (Kay) Wright, who predeceased him.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Leslie; four children, Joshua, Angela, Stephen, and Emma; a grand-daughter Kaelie (KC); his brother Walter (Terry) and sister-in-law, Tammy, and their children Tabitha, Joseph (JT), and Benjamin (Casey).

Ernie graduated from Foxcroft Academy (“FA”) in 1972 and served 17 years in US Navy from 1974 to 1991.  He was fiercely patriotic, proud to be a veteran, and requested a naval burial at sea.  Ernie loved nature, camping, music, especially classic rock and roll and developed a love of country music later in life.  He played the guitar in the band at FA and continued to play and sing throughout his life for family and anyone willing to listen.  He loved sports, including soccer, the Tour de France and NFL football.  Ernie will always be remembered for his big heart and compassion for others.  He put family first, ahead of himself most of the time, gave to others and loved talking to just about anyone, but especially fellow veterans.

The family will hold a Celebration of Ernie’s Life for friends and family with details to be provided later.  The family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust
