Celia Brown

Obituary of Celia Belle Brown

Celia Belle (Berger) Brown, age 89, of Reston, VA passed away on October 16, 2021 peacefully in her sleep at home.  She was born on February 29, 1932 in Washington D.C. as the only child to the late Joseph and Sarah Berger (Frielding).  She is survived by her daughter, Lynn and husband, Karl, of Manassas, VA; and son, Robert (Bob) and wife, Susan, of Harpers Ferry, WV.  She also leaves numerous loving and treasured relatives and  friends.

Celia was a Writer Editor for the Federal Government in the Department of HHS (formerly known as the Children's Bureau during her tenure).  Celia was a voracious reader and avid movie aficionado. She loved nature and being outdoors.  During her last 25+ years in retirement she enjoyed spending most summers in her small, vintage Airstream trailer at Happy Green Acres Campground in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.  She developed many lasting, loving relationships with her Canadian "family" and will be sorely missed.  Celia had a life full of amazing experiences and interesting travels.  Celia's friends and family describe her as a unique presence, smart, forceful, bold, and with a great sense of style.  She was always intellectually curious and welcomed the challenges, adventures, and fun in life.  The family will hold a private Celebration of Life for friends and family with details forthcoming.  Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, (StJude.org),  or the Jewish National Fund (jnf.org).
