Vickie J. Eckert (Handevidt), age 55, of Linden, VA, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at home surrounded by loving family.
Vickie was born on November 3, 1965, daughter of the late James Handevidt and Janice Mosser Handevidt.
Vickie held a deep commitment to both friends and family. She had a love for the water and spent most of her time fishing or boating the Shenandoah River. There wasn’t a child that didn’t love Vickie. She was a child at heart herself and had a passion for teaching children to fish. She will be remembered for her bravery and strength, kindness, and free spirit.
Vickie is survived by her husband Roy Eckert; two daughters, Shannon Cressel (Michael) and Ashley Eckert; a son, Roy “RJ” Eckert Jr.; two grandchildren, Brayden and Matthew. Also surviving are three brothers, James Gray, Charles “Kevin” Gray and Bob Handevidt; a sister, Tammy Coleman (Ronald “Bubby”); her sweet dog, Gizmo and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Vickie was preceded in death by a brother, John Follin; and a nephew; Travis Coleman.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Rivermont Community Hall, 50 Stokes Airport Road, Front Royal, VA 22630.
