Obituary of Ralph W. Ridgeway, Jr.

Ralph William Ridgeway Jr, 65, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8, at Heritage Hall Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy battle with diabetes.  He was born to Alice F. Henry Ridgeway Morneault and Ralph W. Ridgeway Sr, in Front Royal on September 2, 1955. 


In 1973, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and was discharged shortly after.  In 1977, he worked at Riverton Lime and Stone Quarry where he married Nancy J. Haines and together they had two daughters, Sunshine and Angel.  In 1986 he started working for his stepfather in Morneault Plumbing before furthering his skills with Nichols Construction.  In 1989 he married his second wife, Susan E. Thomas and together they had two sons, Kristopher and Dale.  In 1991, he started working at R.R. Donnelley, previously known as, Shenandoah Press, when he met and had a 13-year relationship with Sandra "Sandi" Stickley.  In 2011, he married his third wife, Leah Dawson.  In 2018, he retired from the press.  He enjoyed working outdoors to include hunting, fishing, gardening, mowing, and watching NASCAR. 


He is predeceased by his parents, Alice, Ralph and stepfather Rudolph “Frenchie” Morneault; his brother Steven G. Ridgeway and brother-in-law Daniel "Jack" Clegg. 


He is survived by his wife Leah N. Dawson and four children, Sunshine J. Ridgeway, Angel L. Ridgeway, Kristopher S. Ridgeway, and Dale P. Ridgeway; his first and second wives Nancy J. Haines and Susan E. Thomas; his sisters Faith G. Smith, Hope A. Clegg, and Charity F. Ridgeway; grandson Elijah I. Ellis; three granddaughters Taryn W. Gibson, Katherine M. Ridgeway and Ava S. Ridgeway; and numerous nieces and nephews. 


A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, August 22 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at What’s New Worship, 2249 Valor Dr, Winchester, VA 22601.  Please bring any memories or stories about Ralph to share with family and friends.  Releasing of his ashes will be a private ceremony.  His family would like to thank What’s New Worship and Direct Cremation Services of Virginia.  Arrangements are by What’s New Worship and Direct Cremation Services of Virginia.
