Robert Harmon Osborn, 92, died on July 6, 2021 at Fairfax INOVA Hospital. He is survived by his son, Richard Osborn and wife Robin; his son Mark Osborn and wife Carol; his son Jim Osborn; grandsons David, Stephen, Andrew, and granddaughter Sara; and his sister Grace Drennan. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, who passed away February 27, 2016.
He was born on October 1, 1928 in Allentown, PA and lived his early years in Morristown, New Jersey, attending Morristown High School and Newark Academy. He graduated from Maryville College in May 1952 and later completed his Master’s Degree in Political Science from George Washington University.
He began working for the U.S. State Department from 1952 until 1958. Later, he worked as an Education Specialist at the U.S. Army Engineer School in Fort Belvoir, VA. After he retired in 1993, he and his wife Elizabeth traveled throughout the United States and Europe. .
He attended New York Avenue Presbyterian Church since 1955 and was an active member for 65 years, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Usher. He always enjoyed singing and was involved with the Wakefield Chorale. He was a consistent student at the Osher Life Learning Institute (OLLI) and acted in several productions with the OLLI Players.
A memorial service will be scheduled in New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in fall.
