With profound sadness we announce the passing of Alice, our dear mother and friend to all whose lives she touched.

Alice was born March 7, 1951 in Utica, NY and moved to Virginia in 1965. She graduated from West Springfield High School in 1969. After graduation, she married, worked at the Pentagon (1970-1977), then moved to Herndon, VA beginning her career at NALC Health Benefit Plan, where she later retired. During retirement, she worked part time at Giant Food in Fox Mill.

Alice was a dedicated mother and especially loved her role as “Mema”. She loved her family and friends dearly. She was an avid reader, played bingo, enjoyed movies, soccer and hockey.

She was the loving mother of Kristian Lynn Humphryes (Jim), Tara Michelle Semak (Pete), and John Michael Chartak, Jr.. Adored “Mema” of Alyssa, Zachary, and Bethany Humphryes; Dustin and Logan Semak. Loving daughter of the late James Edwin and Marion Madeline Dagwell. Dear sister of Stephen Dagwell (Carol), Alexandra Henry (Mal) and Martha Herbstreith (Rogers). Auntie Alice to Daniel, Hillarie and Adam Herbstreith; Lucas and Landon Chartak; and David Alison.  Alice was predeceased in death by her loving daughter Tara; her sister, Martha; and both her parents.
