Carol Frances (Lentz) Vick of Fairfax, Virginia died peacefully on May 13, 2021, following a short battle with cancer. She was 86.
Carol was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and graduated from Franklin High School in 1952. She earned a B.A. degree from Coe College in 1956, as well as an M.A. degree from American University in 1986.
Carol had a successful career as a teacher first in the Chicago suburbs and then the Atlanta suburbs during the years 1966-74. In 1974 the family moved to Virginia, and she worked for the American Red Cross in Washington, DC from 1974 To 1979. She joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a Purchasing Agent in 1979 and retired from the IMF in 1995. Carol and her husband Randall then enjoyed their retirement years in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Carol was an avid sports fan and followed all of the Washington teams with great interest. She also closely followed news and politics, reading the Washington Post from cover to cover every day.
Carol is survived by her son Stephen and daughter-in-law Libby, and her two granddaughters, Lauren and Courtney. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Randall, her parents, Orville and DeEtte Lentz, and her brother, Bill Lentz, and sister-in-law Jan Lentz.
Her ashes will be placed with her husband’s ashes at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date to be determined.
