Minaxi (Meena) Hemendra Mehta passed away peacefully in her home on March 24, 2021.
She was born in Ahmedabad, India on June 12, 1940 to Vinaykant and Sharda Mehta and immigrated to the United States with her husband and daughter in 1972. In a few short years her life would quickly turn where she was diagnosed with a rare fungal infection on the brain stem. After miraculously surviving three brain surgeries and six months in the hospital, she spent the next twenty years being a devoted wife and mom raising two strong daughters.
She privately struggled with declining health as a result of this initial illness for nearly two decades but rarely complained and always tried to live the best life she could. She was an example of strength in the face of more adversity than one person should ever have endured. Those who cared for her often remarked upon her warm smile. That smile and her spirit will never be forgotten but will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Dr. Hemendra J. Mehta of Ashburn, VA and her daughters Kruti Mehta of Alexandria, VA and Shruti Mehta of Baltimore, MD.
Based on her preference, the family will be holding a private ceremony. You are welcome to share memories of Meena through email.
