William (Bill) Fenner Frye, IV, 72, of Alexandria, Virginia, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, surrounded by his wife of 26 years, Lisa, and his daughters, Aimée and Isabel.
Bill was born on October 5,1945, to the late Eugene Franklin Frye and Mary Shelsa Sanders Frye, in Prattville, Alabama, and lived there for most of his childhood. He also lived in Tennessee, New York, Mississippi, and North Carolina before moving to Virginia in 1977.
He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Marymount University in Arlington, VA.
He served in the Navy from 1968 to 1970. His government career began with a position in the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, followed by the Patent and Trademark Office. Bill retired from the Department of Commerce as a Telecommunications Specialist in 2004.
After his retirement from the government, Bill worked as a pastoral counselor and a stay-at-home dad. Bill will be remembered by his friends and family as an avid cyclist, a home remodeler, a storyteller, a lover and baker of delectable bran muffins, a compassionate and loving counselor, for his crazy sense of humor and, most importantly, as a supportive and loving father, husband, and friend.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lisa McCorvie Frye; daughters, Isabel Grace McCorvie Frye of Alexandria, VA and Aimée Rebecca Frye (Nelson) Appell of Washington, Missouri; grandchildren, Grace, Holden and Elinor Appell; sisters, Sarah Frye (William) Goff and Mary Frye Alexander; brothers, Eugene Franklin (Edith) Frye, Jr., and Donald Cameron Frye; sisters-in-law, Jill McCorvie (Terry) Perkins and Mary Jo McCorvie (Brad) Morrison; brother-in-law Scott (Bonnie) McCorvie; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and international exchange children.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Shelby Sanders Frye.
