Ingeborg Schlinke Boggess, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6th 2020 at the age of 90. For the past 4 years she has resided at Heritage Village Assisted Living Facility in Gainesville, VA.
Mrs. Boggess was born on November 17, 1929 in Berlin, Germany; the daughter of Fritz Gustav Adolf Schlinke and Berta Martha Gertrud Schlinke. She was an English teacher in her native Germany before immigrating to the United States after marrying Jack Price Boggess in Germany on December 27, 1966.
After moving to the United States she served as a German teacher with Fairfax County Schools for 23 years. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ingeborg enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines. She was a member of the Vienna Falls chapter while living in Fairfax, VA and a member of the Shenandoah Valley Chorus chapter while living in Winchester, VA. She was a member of the National Education Association. She enjoyed playing Bridge. She also enjoyed traveling to Germany and around Europe to vacation and visit family.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Jackson Boggess (Vicki) of Warrenton, VA and Andrew Frank Boggess of Haymarket, VA; brother, Harald Schlinke (Doris) of Düsseldorf, Germany; and three grandchildren, Luke Andrew Boggess, Preston Thomas Boggess and Alexandra Mariece Boggess. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jack Price Boggess.
The family will hold a private graveside funeral and burial service at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, VA on October 24, 2020 followed by a private “Celebration of Life” gathering. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks will be required at both venues.
