With courage and grace, Marjorie Rolfs Galizio, 68 of McLean, VA peacefully concluded her 21 month challenge with Lung Cancer on Thursday, October 6th 2016 at Georgetown University Hospital. She valiantly submitted to any recommended treatment, and stubbornly refused to accept the inevitable outcome.
She is survived by her husband Leo J. Galizio, daughter Lyndsie M. Galizio, and son Andrew J. “AJ” Galizio of McLean, VA; and by her brothers, John Rolfs of Longwood, FL and Richard Rolfs of Merritt Island, FL. Her sister Joan Rolfs Lewis of McLean, VA pre-deceased her.
Marjorie grew up in Pleasantville, NY and after attending the University of Maryland, she began her professional life in advertising in New York City. After moving to Boston and later Cohasset, Massachusetts she held a number of positions in industry, and state and local government. Later she partnered with her mother, Margaret Rolfs, in direct mail advertising while living in Florida. Moving to Northern Virginia with her family in 1984 she found increasing opportunities in the mortgage industry where she recently retired from the Legal Department at FannieMae.
She will be remembered as a devoted and beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and loyal friend. Her love of travel, boundless energy, compassion, infectious enthusiasm, humor, and joy for life will cherished by all that crossed her path.
A mass will be celebrated in her honor on Friday, November 4, 2016, 10:30 am, at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name would be greatly appreciated to:
