Richard Stephen Matousek, 82, of Lovettsville, VA, formerly of Schenectady, NY, died on Dec. 5 at Inova Loudoun Hospital after a long illness.
Richard was a funny, loving, and caring man who made friends wherever he went. He had a love for hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY, and was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1961. Before retiring at age 60, he was a Plumber and Steamfitter for UA Local 7 in Albany, NY.
He is survived by his daughter Catherine and son-in-law Jim Tomfohrde of Leesburg, VA; his son Daniel, daughter-in-law Laurie, and his two beautiful granddaughters Ashley and Katie Matousek of Lovettsville, VA; his first wife and mother of his children Mary Jane Matousek of Rotterdam, NY; his brother Alois (Lou) Matousek and sister-in-law Arlene of Edinburg, NY, their children Patty Lewandowski, Sherry Gilles, and Jim Matousek; brother William (Bill) Matousek of Rochester, NY; and his children Sandy Patterson and Robert Matousek.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alois and Lillian Matousek, his second wife of almost 25 years, Constance Borst Matousek, and his sister-in-law Diane Matousek.
A memorial announcement will be published in early May with the service details which will be held in Upstate NY in June.
The family is not requesting flowers at this time.
