Obituary of Lola Jean Mesnard
November 11, 2019 - Lola Jean Cook Mesnard passed away surrounded by family as she transitioned from her place here on earth. Her legacy will live on in the lives she was so much a part of. She instilled her faith, beliefs, strength, and love into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandsons, who will carry on her memory and continue to make her proud.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Mesnard, mother and father, Juanita and Leonard Cook, as well as sisters, aunts, and uncles. She leaves her family, Bob Mesnard (son) and wife Allison, Anita Mesnard Long (daughter) and husband Jesse, Mike Mesnard (son) and wife Lee, and Mary Mesnard (daughter) to forever keep her presence alive. She cherished her granddaughters, Kathryn Long Wilson and husband Brian, Natalie Mesnard and partner Patrick, Margaret Long Hatfield and husband Nathan, Lenora Mesnard and partner Ian, and Erica Mesnard. Lola's great-grandsons, Barrett (Lenora and Ian) and Alexander (Kathryn and Brian), brought her so much joy over the past 3 years. Other family includes brothers George and Gary Cook, and sister Keitha Kramer all from Michigan, and many other nieces and nephews.
The family appreciates all who took their time to visit during this difficult time, especially Carolyn Wright and Kaye Roberts, both of Asheville, NC whom she dearly loved, as well as her close friends from Manassas Presbyterian Church. Her devotion to her faith showed through her attendance, her work at the church office, bible study, and the prayer shawl ministry. She was an avid reader and maintained her volunteer efforts at the Independent Hill Public Library as long as she was able.
Lola gave us the natural beauty of her beautiful gardens. From her active herb garden to her special flower gardens at home. Her home was always filled with thriving greenery throughout the year. Friends and family will continue to honor her through maintaining the flora she graciously gave to so many, so we too, could save the memory of her beauty through her gardens.
A celebration of her life and legacy will be held at 2:00 pm on December 3, 2019 at Manassas Presbyterian Church (MPC) at 8201 Ashton Ave, Manassas, VA 20109. Because of Lola's keen eye for fashion, we request that you celebrate with us by wearing bright colors. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate to the prayer shawl ministry at MPC in her name.
