Maurice (Maury) M. Lynch passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, due to rectal cancer. He was 94 years old.
Maury was born in Teaneck, NJ in 1928 at the Holy Name Hospital to Theresa (nee Murphy) and Maury Lynch Sr., and grew up in Hackensack, NJ.
After graduating Englewood High School for boys in Englewood, NJ, Maury went to Harvard College and graduated in 1950 with Batchelor of Arts (cum laude) in English History and Literature.
In 1951, Maury joined United States Navy where he was an officer on USS Raymond until 1954. At the time of leaving service, Maury was a Lieutenant (Senior Grade).
After leaving the US Navy, Maury went to Harvard University Law School and earned Juris Doctor in 1956.
Maury went on to start a successful law career in New York City and the District of Columbia as a corporate lawyer - as a partner in Dunnington, Bartholow & Miller in New York, and as Of Counsel in the DC office of Davis, Graham & Stubbs. In 1997, he co-founded Lynch & Mahoney LLC (originally Munh-Orgil, Idesh and Lynch), a law firm in Mongolia and was chairman of the firm until its dissolution in 2012.
Maury’s true passion was sailing, classical music and 17th century English Literature.
He is survived by his wife, his children, grandchildren and in-laws. The family would like to thank the staff at INOVA Fairfax Hospital for their care and support.
