Rachel Nicole Sleichter, 27, of Fairfax Station, VA, died at home on May 18, 2022 after a 3 ½ year battle with leukemia. Services: Monday May 23rd, 2022, at Nativity Catholic Church, Burke, VA with visitation 9:30-11:00am am and a funeral mass officiated by Rev. Robert Cilinski immediately following.
Rachel is survived by her parents, Nicholas and Peggy (Stallman) Sleichter; the love of her life, Michael Parker of Lewisburg, WV; two brothers, Gregory Sleichter of Fairfax Station, VA, and Benjamin (Afton) Sleichter of Richmond, VA; and her nephews and Godsons, John and Nolan. She leaves behind numerous aunts and uncles: Michael Stallman, Sandy (Gary) Cain, Linda Stallman, Pam Stallman, all from Walford, IA. Mary (Andrew) Meyers and Jim (Sheryl) Stallman of Fairfax, IA; Mary (Lee) Roberts, North Liberty, IA; Ann Clawson, O’Fallon, MO; Bev (Terry) Morano, Walled Lake, MI; Jim Sleichter, Iowa City, IA; Marti (Ron) Stumpf, Riverside, IA; and George Sleichter, Anchorage, AK, along with countless cousins, friends, teammates, and students. Rachel was preceded in death by her grandparents: Carl and Elaine Stallman; Carroll and Johanna Sleichter; Uncles: Patrick Stallman, Jeffrey Stallman, and Donny Clawson; Aunt: Dorothy Stallman. Rachel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rachel was born May 3rd, 1995 in Honolulu, HI, the youngest of three with the attitude and spunk of being the only girl. She graduated from South County High School in 2013, attended Marshall University as a Division I diver on the Marshall Swim and Dive team making it to conference all four years and graduated 2017. After graduating she began working with students and substitute teaching, where she found her passion and joy as an educator. Rachel pursued her Master’s in Education, obtaining her degree this month May 2022. Her passion was evident and a scholarship, The Rachel Sleichter for Teaching Excellence was created to support future aspiring teachers.
