Thomas Andrew Jackson (birth 12/09/1949), age 71, died on Nov. 29, 2021. Tom is survived by his wife of 37 years, Yuan Jackson, and two sons Montree and Yutthana.\nTom graduated from Colonial Heights High School and went on to graduate from Virginia Tech with a Civil Engineering degree.\nTom was employed by the Army Corp of Engineers and worked for them until he retired. He spends most of his career in the middle east. His work brought him to United Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt. While stationed in Egypt, he traveled to Thailand and met his wife Yuan whom he married for 37 years. A year after marriage, he adopted Montree and Yutthana and brought them from Thailand to start high school in Egypt.\nTom's work in the Middle East made a significant contribution to the major Peacekeeping and Humanitarian programs, including building an Airforce Base and assisting with the surge of refugees in Jordan. He has met the King of Jordan, King Abdullah, former prime minister of Egypt Hosni Mubarak, and top military and political leader throughout the middle east region. King Abdullah of Jordan gave thanks to Tom personally for the tremendous humanitarian work he has done for his country.\nTom moved back to the United State in 1991 and settled the family in the town of Winchester, VA. He enjoyed bowling and joined a bowling league for 27 years. He loves his Hokies football team and always cheers his Atlanta Braves baseball team.\nTom is a wonderful husband and a father. His strong work ethic provides a solid foundation for his children. He is always there in a time of need. He will forever be missed by his family and those lives he touched.\nA memorial service will be held on Monday, December 6th at the Direct Cremation Services of Virginia, 4425 Brookfield Corporate Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151. The service will be done according to Buddhist tradition and the body will be cremated according to his wishes.
