Theressa Mason Axford Obituary (1919 - 2014)

Theressa Mason Axford, 95, of Lake Ridge, Virginia passed away on November 27, 2014. She was born on November 26, 1919 in Louisa, Va. to Azile Perkins Mason and Wylie Charles Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband George Leslie Axford, Sr. her son-in-law, Parker Allen, her grandson, John Allen and her sister, Charlotte Mason Myers. She is survived by her children, George Leslie Axford, Jr. and his wife Carol, of Fayetteville, GA; Sally Axford Allen of Middleburg, FL; Mason Montressor Axford and his wife, Laurie of Woodbridge, VA; Margaret Axford Wiese and her husband, John of Viewtown, VA. , ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Theressa grew up in Gordonsville, Virginia and attended Mary Baldwin College. She and George were married in 1942 and they lived in Maine while he served in the U. S. Army. After the war, they returned to her beloved Virginia. They raised their four children in Falls Church where they were members of Dulin United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be conducted by Herb Brynildsen and held at Westminster Retirement Community, 12191 Clipper Drive, Lake Ridge, VA 22192 on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow the memorial service. Friends are invited to visit with the family at that time. Interment will take place on Sunday, December 21, 2014 in Gordonsville, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the charity of your choice.
