Susan June Merritt of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on October 17, 2018 in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born on January 20, 1944 in Fresno, California, to Hugh and June Merritt and graduated from Meridian High School and the University of Alabama.\n\nSusan worked as a flight attendant for Continental Airlines and as an executive assistant in Los Altos, California. She was a former resident of Laguna Beach, California, Cupertino, California, and Meridian, Mississippi. She traveled widely, was a master gardener with a spectacular green thumb, and was a lover of all animals. She was a member of First Christian Church.\n\nSurvivors include her mother, June Ferguson of Ashburn; brothers Nick (Jeannie) Merritt of Chevy Chase, Maryland; Chris (Alice) Merritt of Towson, Maryland; sister Lesley (Roger) Covington of Winchester, Virginia; nephews Benn Covington, Will Merritt, Tom Merritt and Jack Merritt; nieces Anna (Craig) Moebus, Catherine Covington and Lily Merritt; and a great-nephew, Dean Moebus. She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Merritt.\n\nServices will be private. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Meridian.
