Rita Kathleen Prakash, affectionately known as "Fossil" and "Gigi", of Reston Virginia, passed away peacefully at StoneSprings Hospital Center on January 4, 2022. Mrs. Prakash was born on July 4, 1930 in Croyden, England to Robert and Edith Magnani Charlett. She was the youngest of four children. Despite the many challenges her family faced during WWII, Rita was always cheerful, adventurous, and kind to all she met. She had an incredible life that allowed her to travel the world and build relationships with people from all walks of life. She met her husband, the late Suraj Prakash, while employed with Air India airlines at London Heathrow Airport. A quintessential English lady, she was hospitable, thoughtful, witty, generous, and a wonderful friend and neighbor to many. She was a lover of literature, film, and crosswords and would happily discuss almost anything over a glass of red wine. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dominic and Elizabeth Prakash; her daughter, Rashim 'Holly' Prakash; grandsons, Rodney Fairfax and Ethan Prakash; granddaughters, Jasmine 'Kate' Fairfax, Charlett, and Sophia Prakash. She is also survived by great-grandsons, Gabriel and James Fairfax; and great-granddaughters, Alianna and Daniella Fairfax. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the spring.
