Patricia R. "Trish" McGinness\n\nPatricia Ruth "Trish" McGinness of Fairfax Station, Virginia, passed away on 26 November 2018. She had struggled mightily against the breast cancer that ultimately took her away from her family and many friends.\n\nShe was born in Salem, Massachusetts in 1946 and dedicated her life in the field of social work and employment services. She graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School and earned her BA from Salem State College. She was a talented artist, photographer, theater and music lover. Prior to her retirement from the Virginia Employment Commission, where she worked for over 30 years, she rose to become the Regional Director for Northern Virginia. After retirement she enjoyed ocean and river cruising while traveling the world. Her intelligence, elegance, kindness, patience and wit made her an extraordinary wife and friend to so many.\n\nShe is survived by her loving husband John W. McGinness, Jr, whom she met in high school in 1962 and was married to for over 49 years. Additionally, She is survived by sisters; Jean Keeffe Fernandes and husband John, Kristine Keeffe O'Day and husband Joe, her brother Paul Keeffe and wife Kathy, all living in Massachusetts. She leaves behind her McGinness family, Eileen and Tom Minior, Mary and Dan Roberts, Kathleen McGinness Bright and brothers Lawrence McGinness and Kevin McGinness. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews of both the Keeffe and McGinness families. She was blessed with many close friends that included former colleagues, neighbors, and traveling companions she had met over many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Ruth F. (Marrin) Keeffe, and her brother John Keeffe.\n\nA celebration of Trish's life will be held after the holiday season in the New Year.
