\nMilton Clair Pontious, 85, of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away on January 26, 2021, at Commonwealth Senior Living located in Front Royal, Virginia.\n\nMr. Pontious was born November 17, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to Robert Wesley Pontious and Gladys Margaret (Knowles) Pontious.\n\nHe was known for being a great baseball player, playing the position of catcher. It was his dream to play baseball professionally and signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Due to a shoulder injury, he left professional baseball but continued to play recreationally and pursued a career with the U.S. Army, where he served our country proudly and retired as a decorated Vietnam Veteran.\n\nMilton was an avid sports fan with a special passion for baseball and football, cheering on the Washington Nationals and Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and taking care of his grand dogs, Peanut and Duke.\n\nHe is survived by his daughters, Annick Marie Pontious Jenkins of Front Royal, Virginia and Lauri Ellen Pontious Doss of Woodbridge, Virginia; sister, Nannette Sue Pontious Kershow; grandchildren, Jessica Marie Pontious, Madison Marie Jenkins, Ryan Thomas Jenkins; and great Grandson, Makari Joseph Robinson.\n\nMilton was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wesley and Gladys Margaret Pontious; sister, Carolyn Ann Pontious Reed; and brother, Gregory Wallace Pontious.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, please plant a tree representing his strength and his everlasting memory.
