Marion Hunter Grimsley\nAugust 26, 1941 - Oct. 20, 2020\nMarion Grimsley, age 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 20th, 2020, at her home in Springfield, VA.\nMarion is survived by her son John (Donna), daughter, Lisa (Scott), grandchildren Evan (19), Katie (19), Jack (17) and Emma (15), and sister, Kathy (Ken). She is preceded in death by her parents William and Dorothy Hunter.\nMarion was born on August 26th, 1941 in Palmyra, NJ. She attended Allegheny College in Pennsylvania and University of Manchester in England; she graduated from the University of California, Riverside in 1965 with a degree in Political Science. As a military wife and mother of two, Marion enjoyed traveling the world and living in California, Germany, Maryland, Australia, Hawaii and Virginia. In 1981 she returned to school at George Mason University to study accounting and passed the CPA exam in 1983. She enjoyed a successful career as a CPA for 33 years and retired in 2016. Marion enjoyed playing in the handbell choir at Arlington Church of the Brethren for 27 years. She also served as treasurer of her community homeowner's association for many years.\nMarion was a loyal and dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. She raised her children with loving care and gentle guidance. Marion especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended orchestra concerts, ninja competitions and lacrosse, field hockey, basketball, soccer and baseball games. She hosted sleepovers, played endless games, and enjoyed baking unique creations with her grandchildren. Marion looked forward to annual hiking trips to the national parks with her sister, cousin and dear friend. She loved conversation, was a great listener and was very wise and thoughtful in the things she said.\nA private 'Celebration of Life' will be held for the family.
