Lucas Gavino Gallegos, 97 of Mclean, VA. Passed away October 23, 2019. in Arlington, VA. Lucas received the last Rites and an Apostolic Blessing a few hours before his death. Fr Melmer ministered to him.\n\nHe is survived by his wife of 77 years Earlene Carlisle Gallegos. His 4 sons James Joseph Gallegos ( Danny), Francis Lucas Gallegos ( Denise), Ralph Thomas Gallegos, David Paul Gallegos and his 2 daughters Mary Theresa Gallegos Clarke and Jean Mary Brigitte Gallegos Herne ( Kenneth). His 11 Grandchildren Paul Francis Clarke, Adam Stokes Gallegos, Benjamin Stokes Gallegos, Joseph Francis Lucas Gallegos, Joseph Paul Gallegos, David Scott Gallegos, Matthew David Gallegos, Kristina Earlene Herne, Anastasia Sophia Herne, Benton Thomas Gallegos, Katrina Marrianna Gallegos. Lucas also has 5 Great Grandchildren Hudson Blake Gallegos, Sophia Elise Clarke, Amelie Marie Clarke, Isabella Cecelia Clarke, and Ophelia Claire Blau.\n\nLucas was born on September 24, 1922 to Lucas Maguin and Brigida Garcia Gallegos in Anaheim, Orange County, CA, Lucas was 1 of 4 children who were orphaned and scattered. He was raised in Los Angeles, CA, Albuquerque, NM and the dusty little village of San Ysidro, NM. As a young man Lucas's greatest wish was to reunite his siblings and bring his family back together. In 1942 he married Earlene Carlisle and accomplished his goal of reuniting his family. Soon thereafter he started a job at the Government Printing Office in Washington DC at which time our family moved to Northern VA. Lucas worked a 2nd job at a bakery to support his family. Soon he and his brother Joseph bought a bakery. The rest is history as they owned and operated Lee Bakery Caterers for more than 45 years in several locations and finally in Mclean, VA. His entire family was involved in the business including his wife Earlene, all of his son's, daughters and at times even his grandchildren. Lucas was a member of the Knights of Columbus, A member of Retail Bakers of Washington, President of the Retail Bakers Association of America. He was a member of the Epicurean Club of Washington. He was a member of the Rotary Club. He was a member of the Toastmasters and was involved in the VOCA program with the State Department. Where he taught baking in Eastern block countries. Lucas was a long time beloved parishioner of St Johns Catholic Church in Mclean, VA. Where he was a lecture, a Eucharistic Minister, a server and a CCD Teacher.\n\nServices will be on Tuesday October 29, 2019 at St John the Beloved Catholic Church in Mclean VA at 12:30.
