Leslie Allan Howard, 86, of Luray, died on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Fairfax Hospital.\nHe was born on Nov. 30, 1932, in Washington, D.C., and was a son of the late Llewellyn and Beulah Howard.\nMr. Howard graduated from vocational high school and joined the Army in 1953. He was a field radio repairman, earning a Good Conduct Medal in 1955. He worked for the Department of the Army at Cameron Station for 35 years in radio maintenance. He moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he worked on race cars for 13 years at Grand Prix.\nSurviving in addition to his wife of 62 years, Lucille Howard, are two daughters, Judy Russell and L. Denise Lockley; a son, Jon Howard; a sister, Alice Crupi; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Carnard and Shirley Mendenhall; and a brother, Robert Howard.\nA memorial service will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at the Forward for Christ Baptist Church in Luray.
