Joseph Allan Whitsett, 64, of Marshall, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at home with his loving and devoted family by his side. \nA Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date due to the Coronavirus pandemic. \n\nJoe was born in Jackson, Mississippi to parents Thomas & Gladys Whitsett on May 13, 1955. He graduated from Kiser High School in Dayton, Ohio. Joe was employed by Culbertson Co. of Va. for 30 years. Joe was an avid sports fan. Ask him any sport question and he knew the answer! His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals. Joe loved boating and enjoyed taking all family members on the tube for the ride of their life! He enjoyed watching Nascar racing, riding his Harley, bicycle trails, and hiking. Joe was a family man and loved taking the grandchildren on camping trips in his RV. Joe also loved to travel, but only in the USA. Joe enjoyed his two dogs, Tila (Doberman) and Sasha (Shorkie). His favorite dog breed was Dobermans and always had one.\n\nJoe is survived by his wife, Stephanie of Marshall, Va., daughters, Amanda Whitsett (Kyle), Melissa Leonard (Jonathan), and stepson, Justin Toporcer. In addition, he is survived by the following grandchildren: Alex, Thomas, and Ella Rhea Whitsett and Tyler, Addison, and Easton Leonard. Joe is survived by the following sisters: Brenda Qualls from Bristol, Tennessee, Evelyn Scroggins and Shirley Cruz (Randy) from Suisun City, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gladys Whitsett, by his brother, Tommy Whitsett, his nephew, Tommy Whitsett and by his grandson, Dylan Leonard. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.\n\nThe family wishes to extend their gratitude to Capital Caring Health for their assistance in Joe's final days. \nJoe will be missed by his loving wife, daughters, and all family members.
