Guy Arnold Smoot peacefully entered eternal life on Saturday February 11, 2023. \n\nGuy was born on June 26, 1955 in Washington DC to the late Thomas and Barbara (Ohm) Smoot. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Deborah Smoot and son Christopher Moore. Left to mourn in his passing are his loving daughter Brittany Smoot, son-in-law Dontay Wooden, grandchildren Isaiah Smoot, Darius Wooden, Brooklynn Ashley and Harley Wiley, daughter-in-law Sarah Ashley, sister Jeanette Nehrke, twin brother Charles Smoot, nieces and nephews, girlfriend Rita Calabro and countless friends. \n\nGuy had a personal and close relationship with Jesus, who got him through the many losses and trials and tribulations he faced in his life. As a founding member of New Hope Fellowship in Chantilly, Virginia, he was a generous servant leader and demonstrated his compassionate heart for his homeless neighbors, especially homeless veterans. Guy served his country with honor in the Army as an Army Ranger, serving in Dessert Storm and Kuwait. He was a proud and active member of the Hogs and Heroes Foundation and was affectionately, although some may say begrudgingly named “Lucky Guy” for frequently winning raffles. Guy will be remembered fondly for his piercing blue eyes that sparkled when he talked about his daughter and grandchildren, for whom he was so very proud. \n\nThere will be a celebration of life followed by a memorial ride, tentatively planned for 4/1/23, details to follow. \nIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
