Golden Vogal Brooks, "Goldie," 73, of Falls Church, Virginia, formerly of Warrenton, Virginia, left his temporary earthly home on November 4, 2021, at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute with love ones by his side. He was born in Orlean, Virginia on March 20, 1948, to the late Louis Edward Brooks and Lucy Settle Brooks. He was the last surviving sibling of nine.\nGoldie worked many years as a driver with the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environment Services. He moved to Chicago for several years, and later returned to Virginia with family and friends. He was last employed at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He had his usual routine on Friday and Sunday hanging with friends back in his old stomping grounds Falls Church, Ballston, and the District of Columbia.\nIn addition to his parents Louis and Lucy, he was preceded in death by his son Brandon Smith; by his four sisters: Mae, Bertie, Veonia, and Shirley; and by his four brothers Louis, Lindburg, Nathanial, and Ernest.\nGoldie is survived by one daughter, Tamara D. Brooks of Brandywine, Maryland; one son, Golden V. Brooks, Jr. of Manassas, Virginia; cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Carl, Takia, Aaron, Cameron, and Golden "Little Baby." Goldie has a special relationship with Carroll Clark, who he considered a bonus son; a longtime caring friend Katherine Lewis; a host of nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.\nA Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Rady Park, 540 Evans Road, Warrenton, VA, 20186.\nGoldie will be cremated as he wished.\nA special thank you in appreciation for the nurses and doctors at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute, and the hospice staff at Capital Caring Health.\nForever in Our Hearts.
