On August 31, 2021, Gary J Fossett of Reston, VA, passed as husband of Christine (Craig) Fossett for 53 loving years; devoted father of Tara Lynn O'Dwyer (Brian) of Manahawkin, NJ; Michael Craig Fossett (deceased); Leslie Cecilia O'Meara and granddaughter Dylan Rachael Hali O'Meara of Salem, OR. Gary leaves behind brother Ronald Fossett (Katie); loving cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends. Gary's encouraging words will be missed. Gary was predeceased by his parents, James Hall and Mary (Rose) Fossett.\n\nBorn in Oklahoma City, OK on November 10, 1937, Gary spent his youth in Oklahoma and had fond memories of family gatherings, fishing and hunting, raising hunting dogs, and working the milk-route with his father and brother. Gary graduated Oklahoma City Bishop McGinness; received degrees from University of Pittsburgh and Harvard Business School PMD27. Among Gary's varied experiences, providing programs for Pennsylvania prison inmates was his most challenging and rewarding. Gary enjoyed regular swims at the Herndon Community Center. He appreciated life-long learning with Great Courses/Wondrium; pursuing WWII history; writing poetry; and traveling "with a purpose" to learn cultures and make friends. He relished joining friends at the Kennedy Center and art venues; sharing dinners at home with family and friends; and viewing his extensive perennial garden and pond through the seasons.\n\nAs owner of John Michael Associates, an executive search firm serving the needs of law firms locally, nationally and globally, Gary was well regarded for his consulting approach to the recruitment of preeminent legal talent. Gary's success at attracting attorneys with substantive abilities and high-profile reputations was possible through his in-depth knowledge of the legal marketplace and his ability to effectively collaborate with clients, offering them a results-oriented approach that added value to their strategic hiring decisions.\n\nDue to ongoing community health concerns, an internet celebration of life will be held at a future date. If you want to honor Gary, contributions can be made to Medical Teams International at www.medicalteams.org; or Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
