DONALD FRANCIS GROSS, age 83. Born in Hays, Kansas, October 13, 1936, to Albines "Bike" Gross and Eleanor "Ellie" Gross. Died as a result of contracting COVID 19 while recuperating from surgery at Regency Care of Arlington. Husband of Anne Henry-Gross, father of Caroline Gross, brother of Father Matthew Gross, O.F.M. Cap, Kenneth Gross, Mary Gross, and Kathy Gross Jacobs, uncle to William Jawando, Justin Anderson, Lydia Anderson, and Evan Anderson.\nDonald was a man of deep faith who tried to live his faith throughout his life. From entering a Capuchin high school seminary at age 13 through priesthood and later lay ministry in the Church.\nDuring his years in the Capuchins, he served in the inner cities of Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. After laicization and marriage to Anne, he served with her as a youth and family minister in Colorado Springs and running a group foster home for abused teenage boys. He was active in the Virginia parishes of Queen of Apostles and the St. John Neumann parishes, serving as lector with his wife. He actively supported her work as a teacher and member of the St. Paul VI Catholic High School community, helping out with many student activities and later attending Adoration during the early years of his retirement.
