David Scott Ours, Jr. of Ashburn, VA deceased Jan. 9, 2021 - a great man, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He was born on Dec. 19, 1928, in Buckhannon, WV, the son of David Scott Ours and Cleo Henderson Ours and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna Jeanne (Wilfong) Ours, two daughters, Donna (Ours) Whitt and husband Duane T. Whitt, Renee (Ours) Bild and husband Ralph Bild, three granddaughters; Amanda Jeanne Whitt, Kristen Andrea Whitt and Tresa Leigh Bild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Brenda Ruby (Ours) Baxa and husband Gilbert Baxa, and Barbara Rae (Ours) Snyder and husband Orvil (Jun) Snyder. He also had a brother who died in early infancy.\nDavid graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1946, serving during the occupation of Japan until 1949. He received a BS degree in 1953 from West Virginia Wesleyan College, after a one-year return to active duty during the Korean War. He then received an MBA degree in Industrial Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1955.\nAn avid sports fan for life, David followed his beloved teams, both college and professional, particularly WV Mountaineers, NY Yankees, Washington Nationals and the Washington football team, as well as all the teams of his three granddaughters' schools. David's professional experience included multiyear stints at DuPont Corporation, Celanese Corporation and Communications Satellite Corporation (now LockheedMartin). He continued working in post-retirement years with D.C. Trading and Development Corporation, Securities & Exchange Commission and other small businesses through 1999. All of his experience involved finance and accounting, spanning decades of technology innovation from manual accounting and punch card systems, through the era of machine accounting to modern day computers and cloud-based systems/services.\nMemorial and Celebration of Life services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery later this year.
