Daniel Brian Bruce, 58, of Detroit, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2021 in Falls Church, Virginia.\n\nDaniel was born on March 17th, 1962 to Patricia and Markas Bruce in Detroit, Michigan. Daniel enlisted in the U.S Navy, serving his country on surface ships, aircraft carriers, and with the submarine force. He rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer before retiring and continued serving his country at the U.S Navy Yard as a government employee assisting with the development of new vessels for the U.S Navy until his death.\n\nDaniel was passionate about his family, determined to provide for them and to give them the life he thought they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of all three of his children and always supported, loved, and encouraged them.\n\nDaniel was a passionate fan of sports. He also loved driving and talking about his Jeep Trackhawk, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and traveling to Michigan to visit his parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces. He could often be found having a good time with those he loved and enjoying life to the fullest.\n\nAnyone who knew Daniel knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, and man a family could ask for. Daniel was predeceased by his father, Markas Bruce. He is survived by his sons Justin Bruce (Samantha), Charlie Bruce (Alice), and Trevor Bruce (Justin); his granddaughters Peyton Bruce and Adalyn Bruce; his mother Patricia Bruce; his siblings Debra Edwards, Mark Bruce, Dennis Bruce (Christine), April Beck (Charles), and Terry Bruce (Nadeen); and his many nephews and nieces.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Daniel to the Gary Sinise Foundation. There will be a private family service in Michigan, and Daniel will be buried at sea with full military honors.
